Tithe Challenge

The word “tithe” literally means “a tenth”. We return to the Lord 10% of what He’s given us, because it belongs to Him. In Malachi 3:10-11, God says, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house”. The storehouse is the Old Testament picture of the New Testament church. So as New Testament believers, we worship the Lord with the tithe: or ten percent. But giving away 10% of your income can be a big and often frightening commitment! That’s why we are offering the 90 Day Tithe Challenge: a money back guarantee of sorts. Essentially, it’s a contract based on the promises of God in Malachi 3:10-11. We commit to you that if you tithe for three months or 90 days and God doesn’t hold true to His promises of blessing, we will refund 100% of your tithe. No questions asked.

Giving Challenge

The Bible is clear about the tithe being 10% of your increase. Most would say 10% or nothing. Many of you have made lots of changes since becoming a follower of Christ. As much as you may want to start strong by giving the whole 10%, that may not be possible for very real reasons. Several people have said they feel guilty because they cannot give as a result of debt, injury, or a slump in their line of work. I have faith for all of you that fall into this category. Take heart and remember this passage of scripture in 2 Corinthians 9:7: Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Then Jacob made a vow, saying “If God will be with me and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on, so that I come back to my house in peace, then the LORD shall be my God. And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be God’s house, and of all that You give me I will surely give a tenth to You”. Genesis 28:20-22
