Prayer is mentioned throughout the Bible along with giving and fasting as an important part of the Christian life.  Here at City we like to seek God at the beginning of every school year with 21 Days of Focused Prayer for our City, our Church, our Families & Ourselves.

Day 1 - August 1

Focus: Worship Experiences
  • Matthew 9:37-38 - He said to his disciples, The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.

Day 2 - August 2

Focus: City Kids
  • Psalm 127:3-4 - Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands.

Day 3 - August 3

Focus: The Movement Youth
  • Acts 21:9 - He had four unmarried daughters who had the gift of prophecy.

Day 4 - August 4

Focus: City's Finances
  • Matthew 6:33 - Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Day 5 - August 5

Focus: 1Life College
  • Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Day 6 - August 6

Focus: Groups
  • Acts 2:46 - They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity.

Day 7 - August 7

Focus: Dream Team
  • 1 Chronicles 12:22 - Day after day more men joined David until he had a great army, like the army of God.

Day 8 - August 8

Focus: Families
  • Acts 16:31 - They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.”

Day 9 - August 9

Focus: Personal Life
  • Jeremiah 33:3 - Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.

Day 10 - August 10

Focus: Relationships
  • Proverbs 18:24 - There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.

Day 11 - August 11

Focus: Personal Finances
  • 2 Corinthians 8:7 - Since you excel in so many ways—in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love from us—I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving.

Day 12 - August 12

Focus: Healing
  • Isaiah 53:4-5 - Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought His troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed."

Day 13 - August 13

Focus: Children
  • Isaiah 59: 17 - He put on righteousness as his body armor and placed the helmet of salvation on his head. He clothed himself with a robe of vengeance and wrapped himself in a cloak of divine passion.

Day 14 - August 14

Focus: Personal Future
  • Psalm 1:1-3 - O the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves do not wither, and they prosper in all they do.

Day 15 - August 15

Focus: The Unreached
  • John 4:35-38 - You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest. The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike! You know the saying, ‘One plants and another harvests.’ And it’s true. I sent you to harvest where you didn’t plant; others had already done the work, and now you will get to gather the harvest.

Day 16 - August 16

Focus: The Poor
  • Psalm 41:1-3 - Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor! The Lord rescues them when they are in trouble. The Lord protects them and keeps them alive. He gives them prosperity in the land and rescues them from their enemies. The Lord nurses them when they are sick and restores them to health.

Day 17 - August 17

Focus: Marriages
  • Proverbs 18:22 - The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord.

Day 18 - August 18

Focus: Racism
  • Acts 17:26 - From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries.

Day 19 - August 19

Focus: Economy
  • proverbs 24:27 - Do your planning and prepare your fields before building your house.

Day 20 - August 20

Focus: Schools
  • Isaiah 54:13 - I will teach all your children, and they will enjoy great peace.

Day 21 - August 21

Focus: Leaders
  • Proverbs 29:2 - When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan.
