There Is Still Room at the Table

In a world where many people feel overlooked, forgotten, or unwanted, Jesus gives us a beautiful reminder: there is still room at God’s table.

This is why we’re launching our DOWNTOWN CAMPUS!!

In Luke 14:21–23, Jesus tells the Parable of the Great Banquet. After many invited guests refused to come, the master gave his servant an unexpected command:

“Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame… Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.” (Luke 14:21–23, NLT)

This wasn’t simply a story about a dinner. It was a picture of God’s heart for people and His desire for every seat in church and in His Kingdom to be filled.

God’s Invitation Is for Everyone

The religious leaders of Jesus’ day often believed God’s blessings belonged only to certain people. Jesus turned that thinking upside down.

The invitation was to the wealthy, respected, influential, the broken, the hurting, the forgotten, and those society had pushed aside.

The same is true today.

God’s grace isn’t reserved for those who seem to have everything together. It’s for the person struggling with addiction, the lonely neighbor, the grieving widow, the anxious teenager, the coworker searching for purpose, and the friend who believes they’re too far gone.

There is still room.

We Are Called to Go

Notice that the servant wasn’t told to wait for people to come knocking at the door.

He was told to go.

He went into the streets.

He went into the alleys.

He went into the country roads.

He even searched behind the hedges.

The message is clear: reaching people requires intentional effort.

As followers of Christ, we’re called to move beyond the comfort of church walls and into the places where people are living everyday life. Sometimes that means having a conversation with a coworker, inviting a neighbor to church, praying with a friend, or simply showing kindness to someone who feels invisible.

For us right now it means, launching our Downtown Campus!

The Gospel has always been a “go” message.

Don’t Assume They Aren’t Interested

One of the most encouraging parts of this passage is that the master kept sending the servant because there was still room.

Too often we decide for someone else that they won’t be interested in hearing about Jesus.

“They’ll probably say no.”

“They’re too busy.”

“They wouldn’t listen.”

But those assumptions can keep someone from hearing the greatest invitation they’ll ever receive.

Our responsibility isn’t to guarantee someone’s response. Our responsibility is to lovingly extend the invitation.

God works in hearts. We simply share His message.

Fill the House

The master said, “Urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.”

That reflects God’s desire. He delights in seeing people saved, restored, forgiven, and welcomed into His family.

Every invitation matters.

Every conversation matters.

Every act of love matters.

You may never know how one simple invitation could change someone’s eternity.

A Challenge for Today

Who is someone God has placed in your life?

Perhaps it’s a family member who has drifted away from church. Maybe it’s a coworker carrying burdens no one else sees. It could be the cashier you see every week or the neighbor across the street.

Pray for them.

Love them.

Serve them.

Invite them.

You don’t need to have every answer. You simply need a willing heart that reflects the heart of the Master.

Because there is still room. There’s room at the Eastside and Downtown Campuses!

And someone you know may be waiting for an invitation.

Final Thoughts

Luke 14 reminds us that the Gospel is an open invitation backed by an incredible Savior. God is still seeking people from every background, every walk of life, and every circumstance.

As His followers, may we never become comfortable keeping the invitation to ourselves.

Let’s go into the streets, the neighborhoods, the workplaces, and the places others overlook.

Let’s reach out with compassion.

Let’s share the hope of Christ.

Because until every opportunity has been exhausted, there is still room at the table.

The table is set Downtown and we’re launching out to reach more people. Let’s do this together. God can use you and you have a part to play!!

The best is yet to come,
