More Holy Spirit

Praying for more of the Holy Spirit is a powerful daily practice.

We all need more of the Holy Spirit in our lives. This is God’s Spirit moving on earth, and He dwells within us.

“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19

Wherever we go, God is with us. Through His Spirit, we can connect with God, hear His voice in our hearts, feel His presence, know Him personally, and receive His help and comfort daily. More Holy Spirit is what we need!

He makes the difference!

What Hinders Us from Receiving More of the Holy Spirit?

God wants us to be filled with His Spirit and is ready to give us more each day. So, what might hinder us from receiving what God wants to give?

Here are five things we can do that could prevent us from experiencing more of the Holy Spirit:

1. Quenching the Holy Spirit – 1 Thessalonians 5:19

Quenching the Holy Spirit means constricting His presence in our lives. We can stop the flow of the Holy Spirit in our marriage, finances, relationships, thoughts, and more. This happens when we allow selfishness, greed, pride, secrecy, and other things to take us away from God’s presence.

If we can quench the Holy Spirit, we can also release Him. God wants to move in our lives; we must let Him flow through our hearts and lives.

2. Resisting the Holy Spirit – Acts 7:51

Resisting the Holy Spirit means saying no to God’s leading. This manifests as stubbornness and making excuses, refusing to open the door to God, and believing our opinions are the final authority.

This is disastrous because it shuts God out. We must resist the urge to resist the Holy Spirit, as His ways and plans are better than ours.

3. Vexing the Holy Spirit – Isaiah 63:10

Vexing the Holy Spirit means going against God’s plan repeatedly. This involves holding onto what we know and have, missing out on what He knows and has for us.

We can’t afford to vex the Holy Spirit. Jesus has so much for our lives, but we can miss it if we vex His Spirit.

It’s possible to say no long enough that we miss our moment from God. Although we have grace and mercy through Jesus, we can miss moments God has for us if we choose to vex the Holy Spirit.

4. Grieving the Holy Spirit – Ephesians 4:30

Grieving the Holy Spirit means hurting His feelings. The Holy Spirit is a person, not a force. If we can grieve Him, it means He has feelings.

This happens when we say or do things that hurt Him, such as anger, gossip, strife, unforgiveness, lying, and hiding. When I feel that I’ve grieved Him, I repent and choose to do differently because I want to bring joy to the Holy Spirit.

It’s important to let God guide our words and actions. When we miss the mark, we should accept His conviction and strive to do better next time.

5. Blaspheming the Holy Spirit – Matthew 12:31

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the one sin not forgiven by God. It represents a complete cutting away from His grace. People don’t start here; they end up here.

If someone blasphemes the Holy Spirit, they have no desire for God or to serve Him and are completely cut off from Him. If you worry about committing this sin, you haven’t done it, as those who blaspheme the Holy Spirit don’t care about it.

This July, I encourage you to ask God daily for more of the Holy Spirit. Let Him move and help you in greater ways.

He has the answers for your marriage, body, mind, kids, finances, work, family, faith, and more. He’s God and He lives in us!

More Holy Spirit.

When we ask, we receive! Go for it! God is with you.
