He Has the Whole World in His Hands

When I was in Sunday School, we learned a song that proclaimed, “He has the whole world in His hands.” Do you know it? It’s a simple, iconic tune, yet its message is eternally true.

God truly has the whole world in His hands because He crafted it with His own. He is the creator of the heavens and the earth—a fact He declares right at the beginning of the Bible: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1).

Our origin, and that of all creation, is God. Everything we see and don’t see comes from Him. He is the maker of every living thing, and with divine ingenuity, He orchestrated a world that sustains all our needs. This fundamental biblical truth shapes how we view ourselves, others, the earth, our purpose, and everything else in our lives.

Creation is not just a fact; it reveals who God is. “For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.” (Romans 1:20). This passage highlights how we can perceive God’s invisible qualities and divine nature through creation—a testimony that has stood the test of time as civilizations throughout history have recognized a creator through the natural world.

Today, creation continues to declare the glory of God and reveal Jesus to us: “Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through Him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through Him and for Him. He existed before anything else, and He holds all creation together.” (Colossians 1:15-17).

Jesus is essential today because He is the cohesion of the universe. He became human to save us, so we might live eternally with Him. “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13).

We worship Jesus as our King, Redeemer, Deliverer, Savior, Creator, Healer, and much more. His creation—trees, mountains, oceans, animals, grass, flowers—proclaims who He is. It’s astonishing that while creation recognizes its creator, many people still overlook Him.

Indeed, all creation eagerly awaits the day it will be fully restored to its original purpose and freedom from decay (Romans 8:19-21).

Let this bolster your faith: our God is a masterful designer. We are here by His plan and His design. He is the architect; we are His building. He is the artist; we are His masterpiece.

This truth is liberating and empowering. We are not God—He is. We are not our own saviors—He is. We are not the answer—He is.

So, as you observe the clouds, the trees, the grass, and the oceans, let your heart be uplifted in worship. Let your faith be filled with joy. Our God is good, and His mercies endure forever.

He knows you, sees you, and is actively unfolding His plans for you. You are part of His grand design. Let creation remind you of this and be encouraged. Your God is with you, and He is moving mightily on your behalf.

If He holds the whole world in His hands, He can surely hold your world too.

Have a great day, and remember, the best is yet to come!
