Dream Big
What are you going a be when you grow up?
This was the question we all were asked multiple times growing up? We still ask this question to the kids in our lives and to those around us. It’s interesting the answers that we give, as they comes out of a pure heart and of a dream that’s not tainted.
When our heart is open and clear, we dream big. Our imagination runs free and we think of what could be verses why it can’t be. But then we grow up and our dreams become smaller and our focus is on why it can’t happen verses why it can.
Have you been there? Yes!
However, has God stopped dreaming?
Think about it, has God changed His dream for you, your family and His church? The answer is no.
But just think about all of the hurt, and rejection that God has endured from His creation, and He still is dreaming big. He has not changed, and He is still reaching for you, for me, and the world. So the question is, will we let God renew our heart to dream and furthermore, be a part of His dream.
What is the dream of God?
We find it in the Gospel of Matthew.
“18. Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20
Notice that in the dream God has, not one people group or nation is left out, He’s reaching for everyone. This is a massive dream, and it requires His people being apart and dreaming with Him.
It’s special being a part of something bigger than ourselves, because it causes us to grow past ourselves and to dream again. Jesus wants to come through us and make a difference in our lifetime. We are called to take ownership and to do good by showing people who God is.
God is willing and ready to do amazing things through your life, so that you can show other people that there is a way that leads to life, and it is through Jesus.
This is why at City Church, through our Heart for the House initiatives, to impact our home church, in our local communities, and the world, we’re reaching to show others Jesus!
We have an opportunity to make a difference for eternity, and to dream big with God and see His heart and mission fulfilled. In doing so, we will find a purpose bigger than ourselves and to have childlike faith again.
“3. Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. 4. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.”
Matthew 18:3-4
So, I’m asking you to open your heart, dream with God and dream with us and let’s see what can happen in our lives, our homes, our cities, our nation and our world.
This is bigger than us but it empowers us to grow beyond us and discover what Jesus can do in our lives.
This is our moment to dream with God. This is our moment to dream again and believe that with God, nothing is impossible!
So, here’s two things we can do.
First, see bigger.
God wants to elevate our eyes to see beyond ourselves.
This is where we grow and develop as individuals. This is where our faith expands and where God sets us free. That’s right, we’re set free when we see past our lives and our stuff.
If we live only for ourselves, we shrink and we’re limited in perspective.
But when we let God enlarge our vision, the limits and lids of our lives are broken through and we grow.
I encourage you to see bigger by having a heart for who God is reaching for. You have a part to play in this and your prayers, serving, giving finances and participation in a local church is bigger than what you feel.
Let God have a larger vision and see what He can do through you.
Second, take action.
Through the local church, everyone has a part to play! This includes you!
Everyone is someone to Jesus, and furthermore, He has given us gifts and things that we can give that make a difference. This is not a hierarchy, or a club for the elites, but rather this is a family where everyone’s welcomed, nobody is perfect, and anything is possible.
He can restore you, give you purpose and a place to belong while making a difference. This is the body of Christ. This is His church and this is the way He will see His dream fulfilled.
He has one plan and that’s His church to do the great commission and to fulfill His dream.
So, will you take action? Will you see your place and take it?
Serving on the dream team, giving tithes, offerings, giving to Heart for for the House, being in groups and attending on Sunday is BIG in being of part of His dream coming to pass.
This is what’s cool, when we’re a part of His dream, He’s a part of our dream. When we bless His house, He blesses our house. This is the pattern for His people so dream big and let’s see what God can do through us and in us.
