Mom, thank you!
Mothers are amazing.
There’s something about their touch and love that soothes our hearts and imprints who we are. God has given them the ability to carry us, birth us, nurse us, nurture us, and love us like only they can.
They have the ability to shape who we are and to make our homes full of love, peace and joy. Our Mother’s love and touch is like no other and its impact is massive in our lives.
So as we approach Mothers Day, I honor you and thank you for everything you’ve done. You’re amazing!
To Mothers who feel like you missed it or feel shame from mistakes that hurt your family and kids, God is faithful and merciful. He can restore all things and make them new. Not only will heal you but he will also heal your family. He does complete work and what he starts he finishes. While the repair of trust and openness may take time, through Jesus it can happen and heal the past and give new beginnings for the present.
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
2 Corinthians 5:17
To every mother or future mother, you have a great opportunity to make an impact in your home. In fact, your efforts help shape lives and give God’s love and purpose to everyone in your family. God has given you the ability to take groceries and give a meal. To receive seed and then carry a child. To have a house and then make it a home. The touch of a mother takes what is there and helps brings something out of it.
This is what happens through the influence of a mother.
God has given you the ability to build your home or tear it down. Which speaks of the choices you make and what you can do with the influence you have.
I encourage you with this, you’re wanted, you’re needed and you have great value. Your role will evolve but will always be a pillar in your family’s life.
“A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands.”
Proverbs 14:1
So, here’s three ways to build your home.
First, have open conversations.
When we can freely talk, we can be healed. Open hearts in a family are monumental and the results are trust and honesty. This is where things can get work through and where the guiding of our kids take place.
If the heart is shut down then the conversation will be too.
Mothers, create a safe place for your family to talk by listening and not reacting. When correction is needed, please give it. When guidance is needed, please give it. But along the way develop the safety they need to openly share and be honest.
This is BIG for our families today!
Second, have one on one time.
When Mothers have one on one time with their kids, it’s special. The special attention and time along with Mom does more than is expressed or seen. Within your child they are thrilled and happy to be with you.
One on one time that is simple, fun and consistent builds so many bridges that are needed as kids go into adulthood. Want to want us a bond that develops over time and that hits the mark for the different stages of life.
Mothers, I know you’re busy, tried and carrying a lot but please, value the one on one time. It matters and it’s needed. Your time means so much and it will help your family.
Third, put God first.
When Mothers put God first it impacts the home. The standard, and sense of honor will grow healthily when Mom serves God.
There’s something the prayers of a Mother that shake heaven and move God. There’s something about the worship of a Mother that reverberates the house and lifts everyone in it. There’s something about a Mother praying the word of God over her family that releases his promises daily.
We see in scripture Hannah praying desperately and then when God gave her Samuel, she showed him that God was first. The result, he was a great man of God who anointed King David and bridged different moves of God.
Your connection to God matters and through your faith, more is happening than you know. God is moving. God is working and God is answering your prayers.
Mothers, you have the ability to be a home builder!
Go for it and watch God work. Move forward and see what he can do through your faith and love. He sees you and he’s working for you right now.
“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”
Galatians 6:9
Mom, thank you! Happy Mothers Day!
The best is yet to come,
