God and Our Freedom
On July 4, 1776, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Declaration of Independence was signed by 56 of America’s Founding Fathers.
It’s my belief that this is one of the greatest literary works we have today. The content and its message is profound and needed more than ever. This weekend, we’re celebrating the 246 th birthday of the United States of America.
I’m proud to be an American.
The essence of our message in the Declaration of Independence, and the opportunities we have today, are a blessing. Sadly, most of the world still doesn’t have these opportunities. Furthermore, some people in our country don’t have easy access to these opportunities either. It’s my hope that America fully implements our Country’s creed and rises to new levels.
When I read the Declaration of Independence, I think of the heart of God. Please hear me, I’m NOT saying this is the word of God at all. But it reminds me of God.
This is because God gives freedom to people. He doesn’t make us robots or force His will on us. We have a choice and He sets the captives free. The very essence of Jesus was to liberate people from spiritual, and physical bondage. He came to free people from the devil and give them a new life.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free,”
Luke 4:18
This verse was the definition of what Jesus was anointed to do. He came and liberated people.
Whenever we see power and control, enforced on people through relationships, government or other avenues, that’s NOT God, period. We can look back at history and see how evil has enslaved, enforced and enacted one’s will over others. When this has happened, unthinkable evil has followed.
So with this pattern, we can see what God wants to do and we can see what the enemy wants to do.
God sets people free spiritually and physically. He’s not in the business of controlling people and He doesn’t make leaders control people either. It’s my belief that governments operate better, when they have checks and balances to their power.
However, the biblical truth is this, no matter what Country we live in today, and no matter what we’re facing, God is our Freedom!
Meaning, when we are in Christ, we are free.
What Jesus does in us, no one can stop. This is BIG because no matter what others try to do to us, they can’t stop God in our lives.
“So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.”
John 8:36
This is our greatest freedom because Jesus frees us from the grip of the devil. We can overcome ourselves and others. We can see wrong patterns change and new beginnings for our lives. We can see God take what was meant for evil, and turn it for good. We can see God open doors that shouldn’t be open. We can be free from fear, anxiety, depression, worry, sickness, poverty and more. We can see God heal our hearts from the past, give us hope today and have peace about our future.
Oh yes, this is what God and our Freedom mean. Therefore, anyone, anywhere can have this freedom.
So I ask you, are you free today?
Think about it. On the inside are you free? In your mind, are you free? In your relationships, are you free? This is the greatest freedom and with Jesus in our lives, anything is possible.
We must remember, another person does not control our eternal destination. Only God does.
“Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28.
No matter what other people try to do to us or take away from us, they are not God and they do not control where we go for eternity. That belongs to Jesus. This is why, no matter what they try to do in me or to me, when I have God, I am free.
In this life, I hope that everyone has freedom in America and around the world. I hope that they enjoy a peaceful and quiet life. It’s my prayer that everyone is treated equally and has the opportunity to do something great. It’s my hope that everyone’s dreams come true.
Furthermore, I pray that people have Jesus and are free from sin. I pray that the Holy Spirit sets us free from ourselves and moves us into purpose. I pray that everyone would know what it’s like to have God and Freedom!
All of this begins when we receive Jesus!
God bless you and may His face shine upon you and give you peace.
