Father Time

Happy Father’s Day!

Dads we need you! Your voice is powerful in our lives and your presence gives peace. You mean more to us, than we share. We love you!

As we celebrate Father’s Day this weekend, please read this blog all the way through. I promise, it will make sense.

In 1983, Cyndi Lauper released her Grammy hit song, Time after Time. This song has endured generations and it’s famous on karaoke nights.

The main line of the song is, “if you’re lost, you can look and find me, time after time.“ Who doesn’t want to be found, time after time, especially by one’s we love?

When I hear these lyrics, I can’t help but think about God, and how He finds us, time after time. That’s why I call Him, Father Time!

“I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”Revelation‬ ‭1:8‬.

This is what Jesus told John, when he was exiled on the Island of Patmos. Notice, He said, He is, He was and He is to come! He’s always been and always will be. It’s from this truth, that He’s Father Time in our lives.

He knows our beginning and end. He knows who we are on our best day and on our worst day. He knows our family tree and the origin of where we come from. There’s nothing we’ve done, that can stop His love for us, and when we’ve lost our way, He finds us, time after time.

In fact, He will find us as many times as it takes, because His love is unconditional.

“Long ago, the Lord said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love, I have drawn you to myself.”

Jeremiah 31:3

This is what God said to His people, when they lost their way from Him. It’s amazing to me that, He loves us with an everlasting love. Meaning, it always has been and it always will be.

He is Father Time! Consistent, steadfast, patient, kind, enduring, merciful and faithful. Nothing can stop Him and nothing can change His love for us.

So, have you lost your way?

Father Time is here to find you again. It doesn’t matter how many years it’s been, or the mistakes that have been made, He’s ready to find you again, time after time.

This is what the Father of the prodigal son did, in Luke chapter 15. He waited for his son to come home everyday. Longing for his lost son, to be found. Notice his posture. He was looking which speaks of him being pro active in his search. It also speaks of his heart being open to find him, verses rejecting him. He was looking to find his son, time after time and day after day.

Maybe your Dad is the same way or maybe he’s nothing like this Father in Luke 15. I know this weekend gives a plethora of emotions as some families celebrate and other families hurt. However, no matter our past or current relationship with our Father, God is Father Time, and He’s perfect in all of His ways.

In fact, right now, God is looking for you everyday. He’s standing in heaven, ready to be with you, speak to you, walk with you and if needed, find you, time after time.

I hope this weekend is a great time for you and your family, and that your celebration is fulfilling. If this weekend is tough and empty, I pray the Holy Spirit will fill you with peace and comfort that only He can give. If you have lost your way, I know that God will find you, time after time.

May we know the love of God more and more!
