10,000 Feet
I’m writing this blog, on a flight coming back to Indiana. Sumer and I have just completed a weekend of ministry, speaking together at a marriage conference.
Everything went great and now, we’re ready to get home.
Right now on this flight, the sun is out and the view is amazing. I see two perspectives of both the ground and the sky. Up here, everything looks different because you can see for miles. Furthermore, once you reach 10,000 Feet, you can access Wi-Fi and be connected on another level.
But as I look out the window, I’m thinking about God and how His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts.
Aren’t you glad this is true?
I am, because I know my thoughts and I know my ways.
The challenge of this is, we don’t always understand or see what God is doing in the moment. Our view is limited to what we can see on ground level. Meaning, what we can see, is what we know and beyond that, is the difficulty and opportunity to walk by faith and not by sight.
This is why letting God show us His perspective at 10,000 Feet, is massive for our lives.
I think about two verses with this thought.
“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”
Psalms 37:23
“That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.”
1 Corinthians 2:9
Notice, God delights in every detail of our lives and, there are things for us that our eyes haven’t seen, and ears haven’t heard.
This tells me a couple of things.
First, God knows about ALL the details in our lives. He gets it and furthermore, He knows what He’s doing to complete us. This means, we can trust Him when all we see is on the ground level.
This speaks to the moments we don’t understand what’s going on and possibly, when nothing is changing for the better. It’s these moments that cause us to be weary and even give up.
However, God is doing what we can’t and moreover, He cares about every single detail in our lives.
Second, God has amazing things for us in our future. In fact, these things our eyes haven’t seen and our ears haven’t heard. This means, they are beyond what we know and what we’re expecting.
Therefore, we have the chance to connect with God on another level, like being at 10,000 Feet.
This is where we can begin to know His thoughts and learn His ways. This is where we begin to see things from a greater perspective, seeing beyond what we could before.
This is so important because, most of the time, we’re looking at things from a one dimensional view. We want what we want, when we want it and how we want it.
But God is bigger than our wants.
He’s God and His perspective is always bigger and greater than ours. So, when we allow God to lift us to 10,000 Feet, our perspective gets bigger too.
Right now, what do you see?
Maybe it’s a broken family, a lost dream, a massive struggle, financial lack, relationship loss and physical pain.
I believe, God already has the answer lined up for your miracle!
The key is, going to 10,000 Feet to see His view.
So, how do we do this?
In Jesus, we go to 10,000 Feet through our faith in Him. We can do this through prayer, worship and reading His word.
I encourage you, pray everyday. Prayer lifts not only our desires to God, it lifts us up to God too. This is how we get to 10,000 Feet!
Most of the time, prayer is not only changing a situation; it’s also changing us.
I also encourage you to worship everyday. Worship opens our heart to God which in turn, allows us to receive more from God.
Our hearts are softened, our view of God gets bigger and our problems get smaller. Worship is more than singing to God, it’s lifting us to 10,000 Feet to be closer to Him and to feel Him.
Finally, I encourage you to read His word daily. The Bible is the living word of God and in it, is truth revealed in what He wants to do in us.
This is how we feed our soul daily with heavenly food that lasts, forever.
Well, we just landed and we’re almost home. But I can’t wait, to get to 10,000 Feet again and see His perspective for me and my family. I hope you feel the same way.
Have a great week and the best is yet to come,
PD
