The Dream of Love

The Dream of Love

What is your dream of love?

We all have one and more than we realize, our expectations are rooted in it.

For some, maybe you’re living your dream right now. For others, maybe you’re in a nightmare and trying to escape. For others, maybe you’re wanting the dream to start because up to this point, no one is there yet. But no matter where we are, when it comes to our love life, the truth is, we all have a dream.

The issue is, our fantasy is not reality. Have you found this out yet?

That dream wedding is only the first step to realizing, that two people becoming ONE is a massive challenge. Furthermore, when you collide the differences between a man and a woman, you get tension, arguments, compromise, beauty and bruises in the heart. All of this is inevitable because, we’re imperfect and, our dream is short sided.

Most of the time, our Dream of Love is focusing on how our current or future spouse, will make US happy. It’s centered on the idea of how they will fulfill us in the totality of our lives. But this expectation is beyond reality and cannot be fulfilled by anyone except, God.

So here we are, approaching another Valentine’s Day and with it, so many feelings, emotions and outcomes. Some find their dream, end their dream or find out, they are not living the dream. Valentine’s Day is a twenty four hour period that ends in countless ways because, the Dream of Love is massive.

So, how do we navigate this Dream?

What we do once we discover the reality, we have a decision to make. Will I make adjustments, or will I refuse to change?

The answer to that question, will determine the dream becoming a reality or a merry-go-round that try’s different people, but goes no where.

I believe when we get better, others can get better. Now, that doesn’t mean those in our lives will get better or that we can make them. However, when I focus on what I can do, God can focus on what He can do. This is big because when God changes me, everything else can change around me. Conversely, when I refuse to change, then the other parts of my life will be held back too. So, we can see it starts with us making the decision to make adjustments.

Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Matthew 22:37-39

Notice, we start by loving God with everything we have. This is a process but we move forward toward, one step at a time.  This has to be intentional so we commit to being a part of a local church. We choose to read the Bible everyday. We pray daily and we engage in relationships that build up our faith.

When we love God like this, the Holy Spirit will change us from the inside out. This impacts how I treat myself, how I treat others and moreover, how I treat my spouse or future spouse.

The second thing is, we love our neighbor or others, as we love ourselves. This includes those closest to us and those farthest from us. It’s everybody.

So we see a progression, I love God who changes me, then I’m empowered to love others, as He has loved me.

This is how we navigate our Dream of Love!

We begin by loving God as number one in our lives. From that love, we love our spouse or future spouse. This is because, when we love God as number one in our lives, He’s going to heal us and make us better as individuals. Then, it becomes easier to make adjustments in life and serve our spouse. When we serve our spouse, is when we can live the Dream of Love.

Just imagine what would happen if a husband and a wife, would love God individually and be changed and then turn, and serve each other the best they could.

Wouldn’t that last? Couldn’t that be the Dream of Love?

Of course and this is what Jesus has for all of us!

So no matter where you’re at in the Dream of Love, please today, love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.

Let Him change you, heal you, and move in you. This is where something new happens and this is where something great happens.

Then, give this love away to your friends, your spouse and beyond. Be a person that gives the love of God away, so that you can live the Dream of Love.

God is with you and He knows everything about you. So no matter where you are, start today and let God be number one. From there, it won’t be perfect, it won’t be easy, but it can be, the Dream of Love.

Have a great week and the best is yet to come,

PD
