Should a Man Like Me Run Away?

Should a Man Like Me Run Away?

Have you ever ran away from something?

I remember in high school, me and my friends were hanging out in a house that a young lady lived in. We were all friends and having a good time together. But, she had an older boyfriend who didn’t like us too much. So, as we were hanging out, we all saw him walking up the street to the house we were at. Once we saw him, we all took off and ran away. In the process of my running away, I hopped a fence and went through a backyard of someone’s house. The problem was, they had a BIG dog and it started to chase me. Needless to say, I ran the fastest I ever have and leaped  another fence and rolled into another yard to safety.

It was crazy, but I’m just glad I got away from both my friend’s older boyfriend and that dog.

What have you ran away from?

While this is a funny story, sometimes we can run away from God things and miss out on His plan for our lives.

Have you ever been there?

Sometimes, we run away from reaching out to someone at work or on the street. Other times, we run away from God, His church, His plan, and His people.

There’s so many things we can run away from, that sometimes we forget what we ran from and what we are running to. But God, can give us strength to stand when it’s scary! He can give us strength to stand when we don’t understand! He can give us strength to stand when we’re hurting! He can give us strength to stand when we’re alone, because with Jesus, we have an anchor that can keep us and empower us to NOT run away.

Right now, more than ever we need to ask ourselves, Should a man like me, run away?

The answer is NO!

“But I said, “Should a man like me run away? Or should someone like me go into the temple to save his life? I will not go!”

Nehemiah 6:11

This is our time to be immovable and show the World, who Jesus is!

People need Jesus. The world needs to see the church unified, growing, giving, serving, loving, talking, expanding and moving in the Holy Spirit.

Furthermore, our families need us, our friends need us, our workplaces need us, our neighbors needs us, and our community needs us. This is the time to stand and NOT run away. This is the time to BE the light of the world in Jesus. This is the time, to have our faith in Christ and Christ alone.

Paul said it this way,

“11. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.

Ephesians 6:11

”14. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.”

Ephesians 6:14

‭‭Notice he says, to stand firm against the devil’s strategies and to stand your ground with the belt of truth.

The emphasis here is to stay and stand, verses running away. But, we must stand in the power of the Holy Spirit. He’s our source. He’s our strength. He’s our rock. He’s our refuge and He’s our protector!

I encourage you today, stand firm!

Choose to NOT run away from God, your family, your purpose, your church, your faith, your vows, your commitment, your giving, your worship, your humility and more.

Should a man like me, run away?

No! God has more in you than you know and He’s doing more right NOW, than you see.

In Jesus, the best is yet to come, so take your place in His Church! Be determined to stand strong and refuse to run away.

This will be, our finest hour for Christ! So stick around, and be a part of it.

Have a great week and I believe in you,

PD
