Our Greatest Hope
Man can live about forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air…but only for one second without hope. – Hal Lindsey.
There’s something powerful about Hope and it’s a big part of our faith. In fact, Paul said in the end, three things will remain, faith, hope and love (see 1 Corinthians 13:13).
This speaks to me because faith cannot work without hope, and it is released through love. It’s almost like hope is the engine that drives our faith to believe.
Think about it, how effective would our faith be if we had no hope?
This is why we can’t live one second without hope, because it impacts everything in our lives.
It fuels us to overcome obstacles. It strengthens us to stand in struggles. It empowers us to believe God can. It leads us to walk by faith and not by sight. It helps us be steady as we move through trouble, and it gives the courage to believe, when there’s no way out.
Oh yes, hope is monumental for our lives and its impact is felt daily.
Currently, what are you hopeful for?
Healing in your body? New beginnings in your marriage? Connection with your kids? Increased finances? New career? Peace in your mind? Answers to your prayers?
Whatever it is, notice how hope drives everything we look forward to. It is the engine that keeps us going. It powers us through the potential barriers to see what’s on the other side.
But what is our greatest Hope?
Paul tells us the answer,
“13. looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14. who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.”
Titus 2:13-14
Notice Paul calls this the Blessed Hope, and it’s connected to Jesus coming back!
This is our greatest hope because our faith will become sight and we will be in our eternal home with God. Nothing will compare to this because His glory will be revealed and we’ll be with God and His people forever. Furthermore, there will be no more crying, no more pain, no more grief, and no more loss. This is heaven and this is our greatest hope!
I believe it’s very important that we never lose sight of this fact, Jesus is coming back! This is our Blessed hope and it fuels everything about our faith, because He is coming a second time to take us home. What a reunion this is going to be. What an event as we see Jesus and all the other saints in His presence. Only God can give this and only God can be our salvation.
So, is the Blessed Hope your greatest hope?
I pray it is because, if we have all our hopes fulfilled but don’t have God, we’re truly empty. But if we have God, and whatever hopes are fulfilled or not, we can always be full because we have Jesus! This is the truth we need right now.
Therefore, I encourage you to live a lifestyle that’s ready for the coming of Jesus. Let your Conscience be clean with God and yourself daily, so you’re freed from guilt and shame. Let your heart be cleaned daily from the wrong things, so it’s filled with God things. Go for your goals and dreams in this life, and at the same time, keep looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
Always remember our greatest hope!
May God bless you and the best is yet to come,
PD
