Waiting on the World to Change

Have you ever complained about something?

I know I have, and furthermore, I’ve been convicted about it too.

But the truth is, we all complain, as it’s a default we go to when we see things that aren’t right. This especially applies to the world and all of its issues. Have you ever fixed the world in your bathroom, kitchen, or car? It seems these are hot spots of talking to ourselves or to others, what we think is wrong and how the world can be changed If everyone would do what we say.

Opinions are everywhere because we all have thoughts, feeling,s and ideas with what we see around us. For example, I’ve heard varying thoughts on COVID-19 and what is right and what is wrong. It’s tuff because one person has a plan and another person right next to them, has a completely different plan. But this is just one topic! There’s so much regarding politics, racial injustice, money, social media, schooling, taxes, city decisions, immigration and so much more.

Right now, these topics are divisive as it puts people against each other, because of different views. But through all the chaos of the last fourteen months and counting, the world hasn’t changed.

Have you noticed that?

Through all of the bickering and making points, the world hasn’t changed. In fact, it’s getting crazier.

However, for Christians, we have the chance to have a different attitude. We have the chance to make a difference by focusing on the solution versus the problem. It’s easy to be negative. Have you noticed? It’s our go-to because it’s easier to complain about it, versus doing something about it.

But that is exactly what Jesus has called us to do! Do something about it!!

Notice in Matthew 5:14-16, what Jesus thinks of us and what He’s asking us to do.

“14. You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

Matthew 5:14-16

‭‭Notice, we are the light of the world and we are to light it up by doing good things. When we do this, others will see God and praise Him.

I love how Jesus gives us this huge task but then is super practical with how we do it. Do GOOD things!!

Think about it, we all can start today and do something good for someone else. Instead of complaining about the world, we are to go do good and change the world, one person at a time!! And all of us can do this and should do this who call themselves Christians. Because Christ lives in us and He is the hope of Glory (see Colossians 1:27).

I believe it’s not enough to have Jesus, we must give Jesus. There’s more than knowing Jesus, we have to show Jesus to others. It’s not just knowing the Bible, it’s living the Bible so people read it through our lives. This is the step of passion, purpose, and power in Christ and it happens when we step out, and do good!

This is why we can’t afford to complain, waiting on the world to change. Because Jesus has called us to change the world!! That’s right, not American politics, not Hollywood, not social media stars and not TV stars, it’s us! We are to shine like a star, so others see who the Bright and Morning Star is, Jesus! He’s the giver of life! He’s the answer to our questions! He’s the healer! He’s the way maker and it’s our time now, to change the world, one person at a time!

Who can you do good to today?

That hard person to like on the job, that person who did you wrong, that stranger who doesn’t look like you or your neighbor, who you’re not sure of. These people and so much more and ready and waiting for us to change the world by being the light through doing good things to them.

It’s that simple! Not always easy, but it’s simple and we can start today.

We have one generation to reach a generation and our time is now. It’s here and we must receive the mantle from Jesus to NOT wait on the world to change, but rather we go change it!!

I encourage you to be a Christian who doesn’t throw stones over the fence, but rather you climb over, fence yourself and be a bridge for someone in need!

You can do it and I believe in you! So start today, one person at a time!!

Love you and the best is yet to come,

PD
