In the Middle of the Road

Have you ever stood in the middle of a road? Yeah, I know it’s a weird question because it’s not the safest place to be; however, I bet our answer is yes.

At some point in our lives, we’ve all crossed a road and found ourselves in the middle of it. Waiting to cross a busy street or maybe talking to a friend when no cars were coming. No matter the scenario, we’ve all done this and furthermore, will probably do it again.

Roads are a part of our lives and crossing them is a must if we’re going somewhere. It’s a simple task of leaving point a, to then go to point b. But the middle is in-between the two points. (Please keep reading because I know the knowledge I’m giving is next level.)

But this speaks of a spiritual truth in our lives as well. You see, it’s easy for us to be in the middle of the road in our faith and thus, we find ourselves in between two points. This could be in the middle of really letting God have all of us. Or, we’re waiting on His answer to prayer, so we know where our next step is. And maybe it’s the fact that we’re wrestling with something and it’s hard to make the Godly decision.

Whatever it is there’s no doubt, that being in the middle of the road can at times be easier than crossing the road. But this is not what God has for us! He has a destination and a purpose for us to move toward and thus, we cannot live in the middle of the road, we have to follow Him across it.

This is because being in the middle of the road can cause apathy, laziness, distractions and more. At some point in our faith, we have to cross the road and go toward what God has for us. This means, I may not know what’s next and I may not understand it either but, I will move toward it, believing He has the best for me.

Isn’t this a challenge for us?

It is because, it defies what we’re taught and maybe even, what we want. However, when I trade what I want, for what He wants, I’m always going to be better than I was before!!

Check out the definition of faith in Hebrews 11:1:

“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.”

Hebrews 11:1

What stands out to me is that our faith, gives the evidence of the things we cannot see. Meaning many times in our walk with God, we are crossing the road not seeing fully what God has for us. But, because God is with us we can cross the road in faith knowing that His plans are for our good. If we knew what the end would be, that wouldn’t require faith. If we saw everything in full view, that wouldn’t be faith either.

So, when we cross the road in faith we have the confidence that something good is going to happen.

“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him.”

Hebrews 11:6

‭Notice, He rewards those who diligently seek Him because, when we cross the road in faith, it pleases God.

I believe that God wants to reward you and I with answered prayers, fulfilled purpose and completed destiny. Furthermore, He wants to heal our lives and use us to make an impact for eternity. Therefore, we must know, that all of this is not found in the middle of the road. It’s found in crossing the road and believing His next step is our best step forward.

Are you in the middle of the road today?

Are you holding back getting involved in the local church, serving on the dream team and giving God your tithes and offerings? Are you in the middle of the road debating on letting God have His way in your life and moving forward in what He’s told you to do? Are you in the middle of the road deciding if you will give your relationship to God or not? Are struggling to move forward in your next steps of accountability and freedom?

Whatever your answer, God has something better for you! But, we have to cross the road and go to the other side.

The promise God has for us, is on the other side. The purpose God has for us, is on the other side. The potential God has in us, is discovered on the other side. It’s in crossing the road, that we find all God has and what He can do in our lives!

I encourage you today, give it all to God. Cross the road and refuse to live in the middle of it because the best that God has, is discovered when we cross the road!

Love you all and I believe, the best is yet to come!
