Oh Christmas Tree

Christmas trees are a part of what we do as we make memories by decorating and having presents surround the bottom. Our family always decorates the house together after Thanksgiving as we listen to Christmas music and have fun being together. It’s a great moment to laugh, be a team and of course, take selfies.

Right now our tree is up and my kids are counting down the days until they rip open their gifts and go nuts at what they received.

Oh yes, they are counting down the days and I’m counting down the dollars we’re spending. Sorry, bad joke but seriously, it’s a great time and I hope you’re able to make memories this year too.

But as we put up our Christmas tree, I think of Jesus and what He did for us. I know Christmas is about His birth but I can’t help but think about what He did for the world.

He was born to take our place. He was born, to redeem us from the curse. He had to be born but then, He had to die. What’s amazing is that He knew He would rise again and that He did. His tomb is empty and today He lives!

We celebrate Christ because He did His purpose and now, we are free! We celebrate Christ because He’s God and yet, He took our place so we could live in His place forever! Oh, this Jesus is why we have Christmas and He’s why we live. Truly, He’s great!

You see, as we decorate our Christmas tree, it was His tree that set us free. It was His tree that gave us the chance to worship Him right now.

Paul said it this way in Galatians 3:13,

“But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When He was hung on the cross, He took upon Himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”

Galatians 3:13

Notice, He became a curse so we could be free from the curse. This curse had three main areas of operation because of the fall of man; Spiritual death, Physical sickness, and poverty.

But when Jesus became this curse for us, He set us free so we could be saved and go to heaven. He also paid the price so we could be healed and then, He opened the door of provision for His people. Jesus broke this curse spiritually by dying physically; therefore, we can have His blessing both spiritually and physically in our lives.

He died on Calvary’s tree to heal our family tree!

I know I want that for my family, how about you?

He can heal any issue, unite any rift and make new anything that is old. God is alive and this Christmas, He’s reminding us, His tree set us free. His tree heals our families and does miracles. It’s Jesus who does what we can’t do and there’s no better time to remember this than today!

Some sing the Christmas song, Oh Christmas Tree, but I sing Oh Calvary’s Tree!

So while we enjoy the decorations and all that comes with this holiday, take time and remember His tree. Take time and remember, He was born, and He set us free!

What can God do for your family? What could He do for you? Reach out to Him. Remember His birth, death, and resurrection. Worship Him and give Him prayer requests. Willingly give Him your situation and believe, He can do miracles in it. He can do what no one can do.

Have a great Christmas and may Jesus fill you with joy, hope, and life! May you laugh with others and may you be brought to tears in worship of Him. May Jesus be your everything!

Have a great week and the best is yet to come,

PD
