I Choose To Worship
The current state of our nation and world is unpredictable at best. It seems there’s something new every week taking place that demands our attention, and not in a good way.
The collective tension is spilling over into multiple genres, including our own hearts. I believe this is leaving us vulnerable to being offended, shutting down and unplugging from community.
I’ve noticed the level of animosity especially among Christians and how offense is spreading quickly. This reveals not only the plot against us but also the response to what’s happening around us.
All that we’re seeing is seeking to divide, spread hate and cause more separation from the very people, God has called us to do life with. It’s because of this we must remember what Peter said in 1 Peter 5:8,
“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”
1 Peter 5:8
We must start alert!
But how? With all that’s going on, how do we stay alert?
Worship!?
That’s right, when we Choose to Worship, something happens in us that the enemy can’t take away. This is because it’s a work in our hearts that transforms us into who God made us to be.
We were made to Worship God and furthermore, we won’t be complete until we do. What we’re longing for, what we’re reaching for and what we’re looking for is found in Jesus. Therefore, when we worship Him as our King, the longing, the reaching and the looking are fulfilled in Him.
Maybe this is why the enemy is trying to stop our worship. Maybe this is why he wants us to shut down, be distracted, not care and close our hearts to the one who made our hearts for Him. Because he knows, when we choose to worship, God does something in us, he can’t take away.
This is why we must say in the middle of the this mess, I choose to worship.
“For God is Spirit, so those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
John 4:24
We worship God for who He is, period. That’s enough right there. Because He’s holy, good, love, kind, merciful, compassionate, our friend, our Savior and more.
Furthermore, this is based on Him and NOT on what we get, NOT on how we feel, NOT what others do and NOT what’s happening around us! It’s because He’s God!
So I worship Him through being disappointed, through pain, through misunderstandings, through NOT understanding, through delay, through anger, through others judgement of me and more.
I choose to worship!
Because remember, when we worship, He does something in us that the enemy can’t take away.
So I ask all of us, will we worship?
Will we put Jesus on the throne of our lives eclipsing politics, social debates and more?
Will we make Him LORD no matter what’s happening around us. This is BIG; therefore, I encourage us to declare, I choose to worship.
May God give us the courage and strength to worship Him daily! May He be number one in our lives no matter what happens around our lives. May we give Jesus all of us!
I believe in you and that the best is yet to come!
Have a great week,
PD
