What Gives You Peace?

What gives you peace?

For some, it’s the perfect vacation. For others it’s their favorite spot, a hobby, their family and more. Everyone has something they retreat to that gives them a sense of peace and tranquility. This is because we have an inherent desire for it.

It’s my belief that we are better as people when we are filled with peace. Our bodies are healthier and our minds clearer because there is power in it!

But have you noticed how our world is desperate for it?

You would think with all of our advancement and all of our ingenuity that peace would be more widespread today than ever before. After all, we have convenience and so many things at our fingertips that the previous generations never dreamed of having, and yet so many do not have peace.

Therefore, this speaks of an ancient truth we must remember. Things, convenience, money and pleasure are NOT the source of peace. In fact, they cannot give us peace at all. They don’t have the ability to because objects or materials don’t have the power of peace within them. They can make us happy or give us a sense of accomplishment, but not peace.

Peace is not revealed in a position of life or in the things of life but rather in our position with God.

In the human heart is a need for God. We were made with it and we are complete through Jesus. So peace comes through our faith in God. This is profound because in Jesus, peace is not based on what we have but rather on who we have. Notice, it’s not revealed in things but rather it’s revealed through a person who has the power to give it to anyone who believes.

This is Jesus!

He is what we need. So as we enter this Easter season, we are reminded that the power of peace is seen and given through Him.

Philippians 4:6-7 says,

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7

Notice that when we pray versus worrying, Jesus shows up and gives us peace. Then we see the power that peace contains.

Peace has the ability to guard our mind and our heart and it goes beyond human understanding. Because of this, there is nothing that we can face that peace cannot touch through Jesus. This is so comforting because our lives do not have to be based on what we have or what happens to us or around us, but rather it’s based on Jesus and who He is.

Hebrews 6:19 says, “He is the anchor of our souls.”

Think about that for a minute. He is the anchor of our souls, so that when the wind and the waves of life blow against us and try to bend or break us, the anchor of our soul holds us steady and strong in our faith. We don’t have to waiver or be blown around like a leaf in the wind but rather we can be strong and steadfast built on the rock of Jesus, filled with His peace.

It’s also important to note, that we don’t have to understand something to have peace through Jesus. So many get stuck on what they understand or don’t understand that it can block them from receiving what Jesus has. In our verses we see that His peace goes beyond our understanding.

Meaning, when it’s beyond what I know or feel, God is there and has peace for my soul. He has peace that transcends my mind and it protects my mind and heart from all that’s against me.

Therefore, I don’t have to live in preputial worry, fear, torment, uncertainty, insecurity, guilt or shame. No, I can have peace in my mind and be of sound mind as I live.

I also don’t have to live with unforgiveness, bitterness, rage, jealously, envy, strife, division, hate or grudges. No, I can have peace in my heart and be clean from the inside out because of the power of peace through Jesus.

Do you have peace in your mind and heart today?

In truth, whatever your answer, we all could use more peace because the lack of it is one of the greatest attacks against our lives. Satan’s aim is to torment, confuse and vex our hearts from receiving what Jesus has for us. Too many people live below their potential because of a lack of peace.

But it’s going to be different with us!

From this day forward, the power of peace is to be seen through us because of Jesus!

He’s the Prince of Peace and He is able to do what we can’t. So please, let His word touch your thoughts. Let His spirit move in your heart and watch the peace of God fill you and flood you more and more everyday.

Even now, pray and ask God for peace. If there’s anything that’s wrong, ask for forgiveness. Let it go or let that person go. Life is too short to be tormented, when He has the power of peace to give.

This Easter season, be renewed and be filled with the peace of God!

Have a great day and we love you,

PD
