One Prayer Can Change Everything
Have you noticed it doesn’t take much to change everything? In fact, many times it can take one moment, one sentence, one memory, one night and one act that can alter everything we know. It’s crazy how life can build toward a goal or a dream and then in one second, everything can change. Because of this, I believe moments are precious commodities that give dividends beyond what we see. Taking time for family and friends is a must. Living beyond ourselves is liberating and giving our hearts to Jesus is the greatest thing we can do in our lifetime. But, notice these things are zooming out from us onto others which means, we’re not living for me, myself and I, but rather we’re living for Him. And when we live for Him, anything can happen.
This is why one prayer can change everything!
Too often we don’t think one prayer can change anything, let alone everything. In truth, we can struggle just to pray a little bit everyday and so to think it can do more is a challenge. Then, God’s timing is an issue that we don’t understand, so when delay overtakes our expectation, we’re deflated in our efforts. This happens over and over again and this is why Christians are praying at all time lows in terms of time, consistency and focus. But, I believe more is happening through our prayers than what we see. We must remember what the Bible says.
In 2 Corinthians 5:7 we read –
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
2 Corinthians 5:7
These seven words are powerful as they layout our faith walk and the challenge that comes with it. Yet, when we pray we’re reaching to God and He’s reaching back to us. It’s in this exchange where miracles happen and it’s in this exchange that one prayer can change everything.
What’s awesome about Jesus is that He didn’t need a lot from people to do a miracle. He just needed what they had. Whether it was a little bit of faith, or a little bit of food, or one prayer, He met them where they were and everything changed. He doesn’t need our resume but, He wants our heart. When this happens, we’ll give Him what we have. This is all He wants and this is all He needs for one prayer to change everything.
With this in mind, notice a secret John gave us in Revelation 5:8 –
“And when he took the scroll, the four living beings and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp, and they held gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.”
Revelation 5:8
I love this verse!
Our prayers are incense before God. Meaning He hears them, He receives them and He even smells them as an offering. I don’t know how this happens but I know it’s true. Our prayers are going before God and they speak to Him long after we say them. So while our timing isn’t necessarily His, our prayers are moving Heaven for Him to come and do miracles. Remember, He doesn’t need much as it just takes one prayer to change everything. So keep praying, keep believing and keep speaking words of faith because I believe He’s moving right now towards you and your family.
On top of this, Jesus is praying for us everyday (see Hebrews 7:25)! So not only does God receive our prayers, but Jesus is praying for us too. With this combo, no wonder the enemy attempts to distract us, frustrate us and trick us to think He’s not moving and so we give up and stop praying. However; when we pray, our enemy is shackled and our God is empowered to move! Isn’t this what we want? Isn’t this what we need?
So keep praying and don’t stop.
Shake off disappointments. Set aside distractions. Lay down resistance and give your heart to Jesus through prayer. Something is happening and something is changing for your good. He’s the same yesterday, today and forever so if He’s answered one person, He’ll answer you too.
This is why one prayer can change everything!
