Face to Face

There is nothing like communicating Face to Face. It’s the highest form of connecting with another person and nothing compares to it. Not our phones, text messaging, emails, letters or facetime (kinda counts). This is because we can articulate and share our hearts best when we are seeing someone in person.

We can read their expressions, their mannerisms, and we can see and hear what they are saying. This is huge when sharing intimate feelings or when we have a confrontation. It’s these conversations that impact our lives in big ways and we can’t avoid these moments. nor should we try to ignore them. They provide opportunities for growth and we can gain greater depth of respect and understanding for one another.

This also is a great place for character growth. Being open, humble and honest are huge when sharing Face to Face, and it’s something we should do every time. We honor God when we talk to people and not about people; therefore, Face to Face communication is a part of our faith.

However, did you know that we can speak to God Face to Face too?

This is big for us at City Church, and this is one reason why we do the Encounter. I personally have been changed in these moments and this weekend others will be changed, too. I hope you can be a part.

Check out what these verses in 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 say –

“For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord – who is the Spirit -makes us more and more like Him as we are changed into His glorious image.”

2 Corinthians 3:17-18

Notice, we can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. We can also be more like Him as we see Him revealed in our lives. This is monumental in our faith and it’s how we are changed as people. But we have to take steps of faith toward Him to have this. Remember, when we draw near to God, He draws near to us (see James 4:8). He’s done His part, now it’s our time to respond to Him.

Speaking to God Face to Face is about humility, which puts us in position to be where He wants us to be and to do what He wants us to do. We often have to come back to this place in our lives as it’s easy to get distracted or caught up in the daily grind of life. Therefore, being Face to Face with God is a consistent need we have.

But how do we speak to God Face to Face?

When we let go of control, we will have Him. This is where things happen. This is where we are changed. This is what we can have but it comes when we humble ourselves to Him. Notice, we don’t have to be Moses or Paul to have it. All we need is to humble ourselves and say, “Here I am, take my life, I’m yours.” That powerful statement frees us, lifts us and takes us into His purpose.

Reach for Him. Humble yourself and give what you have. His grace and mercy are yours daily. He has what you need and the greatest fulfillment is when we speak to Him Face to Face.

What area of your life are you controlling? When you let it go and give to God, miracles happen.

I encourage you to go to the Encounter at City Church this weekend. It’s a perfect set up to take this step and experience God like never before. Encounter the Cross, yourself and Jesus, and speak to Him Face to Face.

God is with you and the best is yet to come,
PD
