God Conversations
Interacting with others is huge for our development! These conversations range from light chatting to deep exchanges of feelings with truth. Sometimes, we desire these conversations and at other times we run from them. In fact, we can remember big conversations that changed our lives and helped us on our journey. We also can remember the trepidation of confrontation that fed fear of what would happen next.
We cannot escape interacting with others as it is a part of who we are. It is a part of our experience, making us and shaping us into who we become; however, many times we run from tough conversations, seeking to escape or avoid them, but this is not how life works. We must face what we fear and we must do what we are afraid of doing. This is where we grow, this is where we thrive.
If this is true with each other, how much more important are God conversations? This scares us away as religion, shame, or intimidation pushes us into silence. Yet, Christ desires to hear our good, bad or indifferences so that He can heal us and empower us to be better.
Talking to God is powerful, because it gives Him a chance to talk to us!
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
Matthew 7:7
Notice, God conversations include asking, seeking, and knocking. This connects to the depths of our communication with Him and His communication with us.
First, we have asking. We must ask or we won’t have it. He desires for us to ask Him for the things we desire in our hearts. Humility is linked to asking because it acknowledges that we don’t have it but He does. I encourage you to ask daily. Come to Jesus with an open heart so that He can heal and give to you the things connected to His will.
Second, we have seeking. Seeking implies a searching and a reaching out for Him. This connects to our hearts being open to Him. It goes from asking to seeking Him for who He is and for what He has to give. It also empowers our determination, which means that no matter what, we are pursuing Him. As we seek Him, He will speak to us and He will be revealed in our lives. Don’t give up! Keep seeking Him!
Lastly, we have knocking. Knocking relates to a refusal of being denied. It speaks to our position and boldness in what we are asking for. We can be ignited with passion that no matter what, we will knock until the door is opened. However, we are tempted to get tired from circumstances or struggles so we then stop knocking. We all face this, yet we all can overcome it. Keep knocking! The door will be opened!
We know what it’s like to let someone in our hearts with conversations of depth and honesty. What will happen if we do that with God?
Have God conversations daily. Ask, seek, and knock while going to places of depth and honesty with Jesus. Those are the best conversations we could ever have, and they will benefit us both now and in eternity. He is waiting to talk with you!
Have a great week and the best is yet to come!
