Hot or Cold Macchiato?
Have you noticed that coffee is a big deal, and people are serious about their preferences? Some people study where the coffee comes from, how it was grown, roasted and more. Coffee draws both those who are deep into it and those who don’t care what they drink as long as it’s strong! This is a major industry in our country, and it’s even influencing our culture. Now for me, if it tastes good and gives me a pick up, I’m good to go.
However, I am getting a taste for caramel macchiato.
You can get this drink hot or cold, whatever your preference. I’ve tried both and I’m leaning toward it being hot. If you haven’t tried one of these you should. They taste good, give you a shot of caffeine and move you along in your day. Whatever choice you make depicts your taste and maybe even some of your personality. Not trying to get too deep with the coffee revelation – but it’s true.
Our preferences do reflect something about ourselves and speak to who we are. Therefore, God’s preferences reflect something about Him and they speak to who He is. In fact, did you know God does have a desired temperature for you and me?
If He had to choose between a hot or cold caramel macchiato, He would always go hot. This reflects His choice for us too. Each time He looks at us, He desires that we would be hot in passion and fervor for Him. His very nature is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29) and it can burn within our hearts making us new, clean and empowered for something great.
Revelation 3:15 gives us insight into His thoughts.
“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot.”
Revelation 3:15
Jesus is speaking to a church and declaring their spiritual state with Him. When He looked at them he saw that they were lukewarm, and that is like vomit to God. He wants to spit it out! He doesn’t want half of our hearts or half of our lives. He wants all of who we are. He wants us to burn with and for Him. God likes hot! The hotter we are, the more yielded we become toward Him.
Are you hot, cold or lukewarm for God today?
No matter your answer, I pray we all become hot for Him. While our choice between hot or cold macchiato means nothing regarding eternity, our choice of spiritual temperature impacts every aspect of our lives both now and for eternity. Everything around us will be touched by our spiritual place with God. In the heat of His presence is where we are changed and we become who He wants us to be.
What’s amazing about His fire is that it doesn’t hurt, it heals. His fire doesn’t burn our skin but rather it burns away our pain. His fire doesn’t make us ashes, but restores us from the ashes.
This is our moment to make it count. There is no better way to do that than by giving our hearts into Hand and burning for Him.
I encourage you to be on fire! Give your all to Jesus. It’s worth it and your life will reflect His healing, His plan and His grace! The time is now.
Hot or cold macchiato; God always chooses hot!
Have a great week and the best is yet to come,
