A Lord, A Lady, and a Tomb

It?s a great time of year with warmer weather, longer days and the beginning of a new season. Spring speaks of new life and the blooming of things that have been asleep during the winter. It?s a time to celebrate graduations and mothers. This new season also tells the greatest story ever told!

Two thousand years ago, a Lord, a Lady and a Tomb changed everything:

First, a Lord, full of love and power, stood between Heaven and Earth and made a way for all to enter eternity through Him.

“I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.”

John 11:25

This Lord is the Resurrection and the Life. He is the essence of love as He died to resurrect our dead life. He is the Life which changes our life. His willingness reaches every ethnicity and every economic group so that all are equal at His throne. God gave Him a name, Jesus, and He lives today in the hearts of men and women all over the world.

Second, there is a Lady. She gives us hope that our past doesn’t have to keep us from Jesus.

“Mary!” Jesus said. She turned to Him and cried out, “Rabboni!” (which is Hebrew for Teacher).”

John 20:16

This verse may seem basic, but it speaks to all of us with grace and mercy. Mary, at one time, was a prostitute and filled with evil spirits. She was scorned by others and rejected by the religious. Because of her behavior, she had no chance to be close to God, yet Jesus changed that. She was greeted by Jesus in the garden, and she was the first person to see Him resurrected. This gives us hope that no matter our past or present struggle, He is ready to greet us. In fact, He will meet us in the middle of our shame, disgrace and problems because His love is greater than all. He has the power to take us from the back of the line and bring us to the front of the line to experience His favor and goodness. If God did this for the Lady, He will do the same for you!

Third, there is the Tomb. This gives us hope that nothing can stop our God.

“Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance.”

John 20:1

When Mary saw that the stone had been rolled away, it meant that death had been defeated! His enemies even tried to seal the stone with guards protecting it, but none of these measures could stop the resurrection power of God.

This is significant for us! No matter what we face and no matter what is going on, there is hope in Jesus. The grave can’t stop Him; circumstances can’t stop Him; bad news can’t stop Him; mistakes can’t stop Him. He is great enough to do the impossible in our lives!

Do you believe? Easter season proclaims the possibility that anything can happen with God! I encourage you to let this story become your story today. He lives to make a difference in us!

I invite you to one of our five worship experiences on Saturday at 5:30pm or Sunday at 9:00, 10:15, 11:30 and 12:45. You can also watch each worship experience online.

Have a week and the best is yet to come,

PD
