God, America and the President
We have a new President, and our country is preparing to take our next steps together. This sentence in itself brings relief for some and anguish for others, depending on which side won. There is no doubt that we are divided more than ever regarding policy, ideals and agendas and the tension seems to be rising.
However, where is God in this? Moreover, what should the Church be doing?
I believe these questions are vital in order for all of us to stay centered, focused and purposed with the cause of Christ. It’s Jesus that fulfills our lives and it’s His cause that gives purpose and power like nothing else. Yet, our challenge is to navigate the quagmire of political rhetoric and see clearly through it all.
So let’s answer these two questions.
Where is God in this?
God is in complete control and His authority, sovereignty and rule have no end. In fact, Jesus has defeated our enemies; therefore, His name is exalted above all others. He is our source, our strength, our hope, our present and our future.
“Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in Heaven and on earth and under the earth.”
Philippians 2:9-10
Our faith should always be in God alone. Our systems may fail and fall short, but our God is the Rock of our Salvation, and we should not fear.
I encourage you to not be rattled by whoever is in office, but rather look to Jesus and seek how you can serve Him and give to others daily. This is our mandate from Heaven, and it’s where we discover our purpose!
What should the Church be doing?
I believe America and our President need the church to arise to new levels. God’s cause is greater than any other cause we’ve known. It touches lives now and it gives life eternal. His cause deals with the soul of man and where it spends eternity. Is there anything more important?
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but will have everlasting life.”
John 3:16
This is the hallmark verse of His cause, as it says why He came and what motivated God to send Him. Because of this, the church has a responsibility to reach out to others daily and weekly. Our mission is people – period! It’s not our group, our points or our platforms. It’s God reaching people. He does this through us. Our greatest enemy is not the government, a certain party or a candidate. It is Satan and his plot is to kill, steal and destroy, but Jesus has triumphed over Him. Jesus is giving life, and life more abundantly (John 10:10).
America is begging for hope, and that is Jesus. Our President needs our prayers, our love and our faith more than ever. Our moment is now.
Will we waste time bantering about our President and each other, or will we do His work? The church is positioned to be Jesus to our neighbors, our cities and our world. When He is lifted up, all people are drawn to Him.
God, America and the President are directly linked to each of us. We share in this together and the best thing we can do is give our lives to Jesus. Our greatest impact is what we do for God in the lives of others.
The life that gives to others will live for generations.
Take a step, do your part and embrace your purpose! God is ready, America is searching and our new President is stepping into office. The time is now!
Have a great week and the best is yet to come.
