Are You Voting?
Have you been asked the question, “Are you voting?”The current climate of politics in our country is volatile, tense and divisive. It has polarized us into battles over views and values claiming who is right and who is wrong. It has easily pulled us away from unity and teamwork into a battle of sides. We continue posturing ourselves for a personal victory against the wrong enemy. This atmosphere has caused us to cater to different groups who claim to have the answers we seek with no intention to deliver.
People everywhere have lost trust in the process because it delivers hollow answers and canned responses. There are real needs that require real solutions, and we need hope more than ever. However, this is a challenge to Christ followers. This is not a challenge of persuading how people vote or preaching political sermons to rouse a crowd. It’s a challenge of our core purpose regarding what Jesus wants us to do. He made it really simple, but we make it really hard by detracting from our purpose. When we are distracted, we are divided from His heart’s passion — people!
His love reaches for all people, and He looks to the Church to be His hands reaching for them. This requires action! It requires taking active steps by doing something for someone else whenever we can. It’s not debating, arguing, blogging or declaring who the wrong preachers are; how sad! It’s being the gospel and living the gospel wherever we are. Our core purpose is to share the gospel and lead others to Jesus!
There seems to be too many people sitting behind computers giving opinions and having no fruit of their own. Fruit is the result of your faith. It’s what you do with what you know. This is not a knowledge contest. It’s all about love! The more we love, the more of His presence, His power, His healing and His miracles take place in and through our lives.
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.”
Matthew 28:19
This sums up the core purpose of every Christ follower. “Are you voting?” In other words, what are you choosing to do? Voting is making a decision for someone and the ideals they believe in, so who are you choosing?
When we choose Christ, we choose Him and His ideals which are people! This is why we must grow; we must reach out, and we must love all people! The excuses have to stop, and the political bantering has to stop. It’s time for our eyes to look straight and our hearts to open up as we receive the heart of Jesus.
Our common purpose is to share the love of God with other people. Vote to do this today! In this year of our Presidential election, make sure that your vote compels you to live and be the gospel more than ever. We believe in you!
Have a great week, and the best is yet to come!
