Christmas Champ

We all love a champ! We rally around them, cheer for them and see ourselves embodied in them. For example, Joe Louis captivated the nation when he fought a German during World War II. If he won, then America won and gave hope for the conflict in Europe. When Joe knocked him out, there was a national celebration, and this fight is one of the greatest fights of all time. Muhammad Ali is considered the greatest champ of all time, and he left a mark in history for his convictions. In fact, he forfeited his title because he did not waver in what he thought was right; thus, today we celebrate him as hero beyond sports.

However, these champs are temporary and eventually retire. Father Time creeps up on them changing the dynamics and stages of life. Some of our greatest heroes have ended their careers as only a shell of who they were and all that is left is memories.

But the Christmas champ is different! He is eternal and will never retire. He is ageless and powerful fighting for all to be free. He is the people’s champ loving every stage and status of life. He is the centerpiece of Christmas and the centerpiece of purpose. He is always available, and He will autograph our heart when we receive Him. Yes this champ is like no other! He is loving and likable. He is humble and honored. He is kind and a King. He is gracious and good. He is faithful and a friend. He is merciful and majestic. He is wonderful and widespread. He is Jesus the Christmas Champ!

“He shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace.”

Isaiah 9:6

Mighty God literally means champion or warrior. I love this because the baby wrapped in swaddling clothes in a manger became the Christmas Champ that changed the world. He did this through love and forgiveness by dying and then being raised from the dead.

Today there is hope! No matter what we face or struggle with, there is a Champ that is greater! He can heal and give new beginnings. He can restore and set free. He can rescue and give purpose! This Champ can change a heart from the inside out. I encourage you to honor Him and exalt Him above all things in your life. Make Him the source of all you need so that His ability and power are reality. This is the season to remember who He is, what He did and what He will do today!

The Christmas Champ is coming to your house! May His peace and joy be yours this holiday season.

Merry Christmas,
PD
