Thanksgiving is a great holiday!
We have the opportunity to be with family and friends as we celebrate the good things in our lives and have great food. These moments are priceless by building memories and bonding us together with our relationships. Our lives are better with others and Thanksgiving provides the venue to remember and give thanks.
Thanksgiving is also a powerful posture in life!
We have the chance to position ourselves in a place of gratitude as our perspective is lifted higher.
The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:18,
“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”1 Thessalonians 5:18,
Notice, it’s God’s will that we give thanks in all things! So if we are sick, give thanks. If we are unemployed, give thanks. If we are lonely, give thanks. If we are frustrated, give thanks. If we are healthy, give thanks. If we are prosperous, give thanks. If we are married, give thanks. No matter what, we are to give thanks!
When we have the posture of thanksgiving it changes everything! It impacts our hope as we see the big picture, believing that the best is ahead. It impacts our memories by thinking on what He has done and how He has blessed us through grace. It impacts our generosity by flushing out jealousy and selfishness, so that we give to others daily and it impacts our joy which gives us strength.
I encourage you to be thankful as a lifestyle so that your hope, memory, generosity and joy are filled with gratitude.
