GLORY DAYS
Glory days represent a time or memory in our lives that exhilarated and lifted us in our emotions.
For some this may be high school, for others college, an athletic career or another feat; yet, they all are connected to the past. These aspects of our lives are trapped in yesterday and we can’t get them back no matter how far we reach for them.
While there is a blessing with our memories and having photos to reminisce, the trap is to get stuck in the past thinking that our best days are over. This is why we exaggerate the past and minimize the present; thus our heart is not fully engaged with what is in front of us. One of the reasons we do this is because our present is not always sensational as we do our daily routines, so we look back to the glory days in search of an emotion or feeling that we miss. However, the days of yesterday are to prepare us for today and tomorrow, so we must look ahead.
No matter where we have been, something greater is ahead!
Our challenge is to believe that glory days are ahead of us and that we have something to look forward to. It’s the hope we have in Christ that lift us today and promotes us tomorrow. It’s the hope we have in Christ that heals our past and gives potential in our future. It’s the hope we have in Christ that gives purpose with our story and grace for our weaknesses!
“I have loved you, my people with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.”
Jeremiah 31:3
His love for us is everlasting which speaks to the totality of our lives, not just a segment of it! We can think that a certain time of our life was the best, but His love will invigorate our whole life. From birth to death, His glory days are for us and when our breath is taken, we will have the greatest glory day as we live with God forever.
His love is drawing us to Him so that we can experience this in our reality. Our moment is now! In fact, it’s all we’ve got because the moment we have is for us to do good things and love others. Now is the time to love someone, now is the time to receive Christ, and now is the time to give our all! It’s the best we have to give.
I encourage you today to believe His glory days are ahead of you! Your life through all the ups and downs will be great and complete. Your life counts because Jesus has counted you!
A great way to start is to be thankful for your past, be patient in the present, and be hopeful for the future!
May God bless you and may His love fill you to believe your glory days are ahead.
