Have you heard someone use the phrase “deep pockets”?

It is used to describe someone who is rich, whose wallet is deep with money. But what if God wanted to go deeper than our wallet?

Money is not the problem and God isn’t against it.

The problem is our heart. It’s the navigation of what money can do within us. The wallet level is the surface level where resistance reveals itself, but really, it’s deeper than that. We make it about money, but He has always made it about the heart. In fact, Jesus talked more about money than He did eternity. His focus was not on money itself but on our heart which dictates all matters of our lives.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:21,

“Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.”

Matthew 6:21

The big question is, what is your treasure today? Is it money, or is it being motivated by what you don’t have, instead of being grateful what you do have?

My treasure was rooted in fear and anger regarding money as my real estate business ended badly. I was suspicious and rude with my wife and others. Jesus wanted to go deeper than my wallet, because I was sick in my attitude. I felt a strategy on what I needed to do to overcome to be better with my wife, my family, and God.

I am writing this blog post as a better person because of Jesus’ work in me, and yet I’m still in process being made new.

Will you let God go deeper than your wallet?

This topic is huge, and yet so many times we get defensive or resistant to it. We easily look over the fact that our heart’s treasure will influence every aspect of our life for better or for worse. Our moment is now to get past the surface level of our wallet and allow Him into our hearts.

Giving is spiritual and it helps us do right and be right.

Our attitude must change now! Our life must be one of generosity, because the life that gives to others will live for generations.

Take this step with me as we let Jesus go deeper than our wallet. Watch what happens. Watch what He does and watch His goodness revealed!

Have a great week and may the Lord do miracles in your life!
