THE CROWD
Crowds have an amazing impact on us!
Many times in concerts or sporting events there can be an invisible energy in the room that lifts everyone in expression. We feel it and we know when it happens, because it draws a response.
Crowds can also impact us negatively. Peer pressure and the wave of group activity is persuading. We all have experienced an uncertainty about doing something, but with everyone else participating we went ahead and tried it. Making that decision could have led learning a simple lesson, or it could have, unfortunately, cost a life.
As adults we exemplify the challenges of “the crowd” as something we have to navigate through. We could all use wisdom in this area as we stand for our beliefs and walk out our boundaries.
Jesus is in “the crowd”, but who will receive from Him?
“When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind Him in the crowd and touched His cloak, because she thought, “If I just touch His clothes, I will be healed.”
Mark 5:27-28
This lady knew something that the crowd didn’t. They all touched Him, but she received a touch from Him! BIG difference!
She was healed and her life changed from that moment. The cool thing is that we ALL can have this moment too. Our part is to come to Jesus with our vulnerability. We come to Him with our issue and then connect to Him.
Crowds can touch, but community receives!
Our community with Jesus is deepened when we give Him our areas of need. He does not want our spiritual resume, He wants our issues. The Apostle Paul said “when we are weak, then we are strong.”
The secret is for us to approach Jesus with these areas of struggle, allowing Him to heal and make us new. He continually wants our hearts!
After eight years of marriage, I love my wife more today than the day we got married. Why Because we have opened our hearts to each other, we have grown in trust by sharing our vulnerable areas. This is parallel to what Jesus wants with us. The reality of Jesus in our lives grows when we come to Him with our stuff. When we are real with Him, we receive courage to face ourselves.
Again, crowds can touch but community receives!
Don’t let the crowd keep you from Jesus! Don’t let the crowd influence you to be distanced or closed off. Come to Him with everything. Receive from Him and have community with Jesus.
Have a great week and love you all!
