IMPERFECT COMPANY
Jesus is full of insights that wreck our thoughts of religion as He displays His acceptance to those we think unworthy.
This challenges our pride and pre-disposition of who we accept and deem worthy of company. We all have this tendency in our human nature as we gauge others with a jaded scale. However, Christ desires to turn our hearts to be like His, which impacts our influence within the lives we live.
Notice, Jesus chose imperfect company while on Earth and even now with you and me. It’s funny how religion causes us to forget who we were; therefore, giving judgment to others instead of mercy.
“After six days Jesus took with Him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.”
Matthew 17:1-2
In this powerful moment of Jesus revealing who He was on a deeper level, He chose three guys who were imperfect and that had issues.
This moment was Holy, it was special and defining in Christ’s ministry. He was getting encouragement from Moses and Elijah of the price He would pay for you and me. Yet, He had three guys who missed the mark many times; however, they would be a part of shaking the world for Him and through Him!
Peter would doubt Him, deny Him and correct Him. I bet we have done all three of these things in our journey of faith.
James wanted power and to sit next to Jesus in eternity. I know we in some ways have wanted power in our lives. We have desired it and reached for it in ways unpleasing to Him.
John wanted to kill a whole village because they rejected Jesus. We have been here too as we get frustrated and irritated at others and moreover, ourselves.
We all identify with these issues and yet Jesus desires our company. He wants our company in His Holiness, revealing His deeper truth within our hearts thus being better people. He is NOT running from us, He is RUNNING to us!! He is inviting us to be with Him! We are His special guests!
If we have this invitation, the question is will we accept it?
Today I encourage us to let go of our shame, pride and guilt and to move forward in His love! Receive this invitation and be in His company! Be changed in His presence! It’s not about us, it’s always about Him!!
Nothing can separate us from the Love of God!
The best is ahead in Jesus! Have a great week!
