Are You Spiritual?

Are you spiritual?

This can be a loaded question with a vast number of answers. Different denominations have their emphasis that would describe their answer and we have our own ideas of what this means. In fact, being spiritual is a catch phrase that many use to define themselves as they disconnect from communities of faith.

This leads to isolation, resistance and a life of not bearing fruit!

To me, all of this makes being spiritual harder than what it is, leaving us frustrated as we are blocked from the real Jesus.

Galatians 6:1-2 tells us what being spiritual is:

“Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual, restore them gently. Be humble as you can be tempted yourselves. Carry each other’s burdens and so fulfill the Law of Christ.”

Galatians 6:1-2

Are you spiritual?

Our standard should be the Word of God and notice His focus in the verse above.

First, we are gentle. This speaks to compassion, understanding and care. When we are gentle we remember our issues and love with Grace and Mercy! If we are helping someone or doing our daily routines, being gentle is the position we should have. Christ’s Love melts our hearts, changes our attitudes and gives us right perspectives.

If you are spiritual, be gentle!

Second, we are humble. This is both an attitude and a position we take in our lives. It’s a choice we make to be like Jesus within ourselves and with others. Humility is equally powerful for good as pride is powerful for bad. When we are humble it opens hearts, open doors and it opens the hand of God in our lives.

If you are spiritual, be humble!

Both of these traits deal with our heart and has no interest in the accolades of others. Being spiritual is giving Jesus away to others.

Be challenged, this week with those around you, to be gentle and humble. Resist the pleasure of looking good to others and be determined to please God as you impact others.

Have a great week and the best is yet to come!
